Winter has finally come to South Jersey. We had about 7 inches of snow over the weekend and it’s not going anywhere because it’s COLD!
When I went out to feed the birds this morning, I noticed that they were much more tame than usual. Usually they scatter as soon as they see me coming. But today, they didn’t budge until I was about 3 feet away.
I’m guessing the frigid temperatures and blanket of snow have made food such a priority that their usual skittishness is tempered.
So, after I fed them, I grabbed my camera. I took the above pictures in about 5 minutes, and then left them to the serious business of eating.
Your photos look great!

Thank you so much, Agnes – And these are all “daily” birds – they pretty much reside in my yard; and I get to enjoy them all year ’round.

Just looked at a post of yours, Shannon, with a soaked titmouse in the birdbath – so CUTE!

I love that soaker; they rarely stay still long enough for me to shoot them. Another bath post coming tomorrow with another titmouse plus a stinking cute warbler, Tweety. 😀

Oh, thank you so much, Derrick! High praise coming from you. Do you put your photos up at high res? I always dumb mine down for the web so I don’t use up my WordPress allotment. Not sure if that’s a good thing to do or not. If you don’t dumb yours down, I may stop – because I will never have the number that you do!

I don’t dumb them down – am amazed at how much I can get on. X

Wow – Thanks so much for the info – I will just start throwing them up there. Usually I go into Photoshop and take them from a 10 to a 3 quality. Thanks, again, Derrick – Very good info!

Oh, thank you so much, Judy! I was really shocked at how easy these photos were. I tend to try to take outside pics when it is 70 degrees and I just want to be outside. lol This was a lesson for me.

Wonderful photos! The one of the lantern would make a lovely Christmas/holiday card.

Laurie – I rather liked that lantern, too. It is right by my front door. Before it snowed I would light the candle at night, and it made me happy.
