I haven’t seen a hummingbird yet, April 29, which is late for me, but Spring is in full bloom here in South Jersey.
Some of the Columbines are over 4 feet tall. Sigh. I remember when Columbine was just a flower.
Aren’t they pretty?
The bed by the front porch looks to have a promising year.
The bed by the driveway looks pretty good, as well.
The raised bed herb garden has some winter survivors as well as popsicle sticks promising good things to come.
And here, my dears, is what my beloved party garden looks like on this very day. A sad, sad remnant of our glorious fall season together, as witnessed below.
But, happily, my Sad Clematis has hung in there.

Everything is looking good, Jodie. I really like the columbines. If only ours were that tall, then I might be able to get down low enough to photograph them 🙂 The bench area is most inviting.

Aren’t the columbines sweet? I just found out my mom doesn’t have those purple/white ones, so i will try to get out there at the exact moment and get her some seeds this year. Once they are dried up I forget what color they were. I’ll have to mark the stalks with tape or something. lol
I do think every year, that I ought to spend a little more time relaxing, after all the time I spend gardening. Working on it. . .

Some beautiful flowers there. Our columbines, which we call aquilegias, only grow about two feet tall.

Yes, I am liking that name better, these days. It just isn’t catching on because I don’t know how to say it. ack – will – AY – gee- uhs ??? Mine started small (from seed) & have been coming back for a dozen years and seem to get taller every year.
