I wanted to be a mom for as long as I can remember, and I have been blessed to be a mom for more than 27 years. I desperately wanted to be the best mom in the world, but I didn’t know how. So, like every mom, I did the best that I could.Luckily, my best was good enough. These three people are all stellar human beings. This week, my youngest moved out.Our spice jars sent him on his way.
EDIT – FOR DERRICK
My youngest of three sons soared 14 years ago. There are still times I wake up thinking “I forgot to kiss the boys goodnight”…only to realize they are gone. I am so proud of them, as I know you are proud of yours. Congratulations on a job well done.

Sigh. We want them to spread their wings and grow, but how we miss them when they leave.

I agree – I am so happy that they are willing and able to go out there and grab life – that’s been the goal all along. But their little baby heads used to smell so good. . .

Those are tough times but proud ones. A lot of us have been there and appreciate how you are feeling. May all three of your special people continue to soar and find their dreams come true.

I can still well up in empathy at these times Jodie – I remember it so well despite the many years that have past. Bittersweet is a such an apt description isn’t it – for imagine had we done such a poor job they never had the ability or courage to leave. Congratulations on a job well done and while you weep over your empty nest, remember they do come back and a whole new lovely grown up relationship starts. Warm hugs xo

Congratulations, Jodie. May he never be tempted to put his jars in alphabetical order.

He and his friends have done much arranging of the jars. See above for a couple tame ones.

We had a DIY chain in the UK that sold mugs with letters of the alphabet. They had to put signs up reminding people that children might read any messages they left. 🙂

In this house it’s the mom you have to think about. Actually, not really. Their most horrific comments were over my head and I had to ask for explanations.
